The Freshman Class began their first year in high school with thirty-two members. The sponsor of our class is Mr. Clyde Colman. We were represented in band, pep club, and nearly all the boys went out for athletics. 20

Class officers for the year were Donald Hadenfeldt, President; Kent Powers, Vice-Pres- ident; Wayne Johnson, Secretary; Karen Rathman, Treasurer; Wayne Johnson, News Re- porter. We began our high school career with an enrollment of nineteen. We lost a classmate at the beginning of our Sophomore year, Joan Runge, who attends Grand Island Senior High now; after a while Ray Stutzman and Richard Parmenter left us; but Eonnie Griffin joined our rank this year. Mr. Hagan is our class sponsor this year. The boys of our class who played basketball were Donald Hadenfeldt, John Holly, Kent Powers, Wayne Johnson. Sam Reed, Larry Spotanski. Class members who participated in the band were Betty Caswell, Jerry Johnson, Vir- ginia Swanson, and Kent Powers. Several members of the class presented a play. 19

The eighth grade welcomed a new student to their class at the beginning of the second semester, Loren Kennel. The seventh and eighth grades are very appreciative of the games provided by the P.T.A. They are in use during any intermission if the weather is bad.
