Theme: 100 Years of Change CHS has now seen 100 years come and go. During these 100 years, many changes have taken place. Changes from faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, the community, and the building itself. Through the years, all of these things have evolved and changed into what we see here today. The school has gone through many cycles of growth and decline as is common everywhere. But, through each of these changes, the school hopefully comes out for the best! This year the Caryatid, along with everything else, has also undergone some changes. Keeping in mind the theme of the book, 100 Years of Change, ” the staff hoped to present to everyone a small glimpse of the past, along with a peek into the future, and of course, an in-depth look at the year (now past and part of the CHS history!). In presenting this theme, the yearbook staff decided to work from this year’s events to past year’s events. The cover also indicates this: showing today’s mascot the Blue Devil — on the front cover, and yesteryear’s mascot — the Cuyuga Indian — on the back cover. A piece of change for every year from 1886 to 1986 connects each of the years together, as one generation of CHS graduates connects with the next years’. Also in keeping with the theme, the classes have been presented backwards. ” The eighth grade appearing first because they represent the future of CHS, then the freshmen, sophomores, and the juniors who also represent various times of the future. Finally, the seniors are presented. They appear in ivory-colored paper and sienna-colored ink to give the appearance of something old. These seniors of 1986 — though not forgotten — now belong in the history books of CHS. They have graduated and will now go forward. Perhaps they will carry on many of the longstanding traditions they have learned, or maybe they will make changes as they see the need to. Whatever path they choose, may good luck go with them. One piece of advice sticks in my mind as I write this: The only thing that is sure, is change itself.”So — here’s to the next hundred years of change at CHS! Get ready for them, because they are already here!
