jfjfia FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA WHO: The Future Farmers of America Club consisted of 25 members: Nine seniors, 7 juniors, and 7 sophomores. WHAT: FFA stands for Future Farmers of America. It is an intra-curricular club of the vocational agriculture classes and provides incentives through awards and contests that are based on areas studied in class. WHY: FFA builds leadership, cooperation, and citizenship in its members — characteristics that will serve them well in life. The Carey Chapter conducts the Bob Evans Animal Barnyard at the Ohio State Fair each summer in August. They also sponsor the Bloodmobile at the school. WHEN: FFA held its meetings the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Meetings were usually held at the school. During the summer months, they were held at parks or similar places. 14 Future Farmers of America

FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA WHO: The Future Homemakers of America Club consisted of 19 members: Five seniors, 9 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 1 freshman. WHAT: FHA stands for Future Homemakers of America. It is an organization for students interested in cooking, interior decorating, sewing, and family life. WHY: The chapter votes on one concern for the year and centers all activities around this concern. The state FHA has financial and educational projects each year in which the club also participates. WHEN: Meetings for the organization are held at least once a month. WHERE: The Home Economics room is where most meetings are held. Special activities are held wherever appropriate. 16 Future Homemakers of America
