MARCHING FORMATION The beat of the drums and the sound of a whistle being blown hails a new year for those in the Carey High School Band. They mean more nard work to make each year better than the last. This year after the homecomings of the summer the band settled down to practice for the football game half-times. A number of well executed and interesting shows were presented. With the end of the football season, the band welcomed the concert season with the annual Christmas Concert. Following this, came the practice for the mid-winter and spring concerts. Both were very successful. Along with the concert season comes basketball. Many of the band members comprise pep bands, which add a musical background to all home basketball gimes. Officers elected for the year were: Carl Sharp — President, Barbara Wise — Secretary, and Marilee Eschbach — Reporter. The Librarian was Marilee Eschbach. Head majorette Cindy Keller, was ably assisted by Barbara Rettig, Gay Gardner, and Karen Myers. These four girls added a pleasing flash of twirling. The ‘outstanding performance of the band can largely be attributed to the hard work and patience of its director, Walter Bixler.
