REV, OHIO THE PATH OF KNOWLEDGE JOINT DEDICATION JOSEPHINE NEWHARD Mrs. Newhard: More than a teacher, a true friend from the start. Yes, you have been someone to turn to for advice, understanding, and assistance. In the real sense of the word, Mrs. Newhard, you have been our Mother away from home. CHARLES SCHWEMLEY Mr. Schwemley: It didn’t take us four years to realize, Mr. Schwemley, that you possess one of the most stimulating and exciting personalities in the school. Indeed, this is only a small way of showing our gratitude. Thanks! Compliments of SWAN RUBBER COMPANY, Bucyrus, Carey. The four years of friendship, education, and togetherness are at an end. It is with true regret that we pass from these walls, but leave with a better understanding of the ways of life, and eagerness to face the world. But, we shall always be chained to our Carey High School by the fond memories we shared together. Underclassmen, we feel we have left our high school in good hands, take good care of it for us. . . . Carey played their first season in the Sandusky Bay Conference, and ended the season in second place. Victories in league play found the Blue Devils over Clyde and Sandusky St. Marys. The lone loss came at the hands of Oak Harbor. The toss-up was with Tiffin Calvert. In non-league, Carey won over Upper in the Preview, Hardin Northern, Ada, North Baltimore, and Upper Sandusky in the final game of the season. Carey had a successful ending at Upper's victory streak over Carey at 7 straight, by a 44-6 count. Carey's winning efforts go to the hard work of the coaching staff and the boys on the team. The school and team is proud of the 1958 record. Congratulations, Blue Devils! Compliments of THE WYANDOT COUNTY AUTOMOBILE CLUB Compliments of DON'S DECORATING SERVICE 120 E. As this was the first game that Carey ever played in tennis, everyone was a bit nervous, with the result of Mansfield winning four sets and Carey winning three. Ottowa, the sets were long and drawn out and experience took its toll and Ottowa came out on top with Carey’s second loss, 4-3. Carey’s third game was played again at Mansfield; this time the score came out 5-3 with Carey on top. Bluff-ton was the fourth foe and Carey was outclassed and defeated with a resounding 7-0. Mansfield and Carey hadn’t seen the last of each other, however, for they visited us and took two defeats; 6-1 and 4-1. The season’s record came out at 3-3. Not too bad for the first year. Miss Anita Long. Miss Long vacationed in Florida with an old friend, Sandi McDaniel, who incidentally just finished combing Miami Beach. Miss McDaniel is preparing for her vacation now to Alaska where she will join an old dogcatching friend” Leo Beagle. Traveling from the bitter cold of the Arctic to the torrid jungles of South America, we find two old classmates, Dennie Yingling and Tom Walter have consolidated their resources to produce the largest watermelon plantation in the world. Heading the cultivation committee are our classmates Kenneth Gibson and Bob Wisner. While Mr. Yingling is busy running his organization we find his wife, the former Francie Troiano, is buying a Volkswagen from the Daryl Webb Motor Sales Co. Let’s see, I recognize that salesman, WHY! Jean Jacoby, it’s been so long. Let’s hurry back to New York where a huge concert is being scheduled for our entertainment. Reading from out our program we find prima ballerina, Kate Fox, will be tip toeing to the Dance of the Three Legged Fox. Accompanying Miss Fox will be Diane Jenot on the tuba, Carl Arnold on the violin, and Francesmac Grubel on the larnyx. Looking around the audience we find an old classmate Jeff Hilty now a successful businessman, is embarrassed because his wife, the former Sue Harris, just sneezed in public. What is that terrible noise up in the balcony? Why Jim Courtad, after 20 years of marriage, still necks with Linda in the dark! News from Washington D.C., tells us that Jim Simonis, presidential aide, has just written out a check for $10 for labor racketeering investigation after receiving a go-ahead from Secretary of State, Pat Bland. He is still mad because his Hoffa sweater shrank. Now to go to Texas to see the new dude ranch built by a promising enterprise — Niederkohr, (Jean) Hunter, (Jo-Lynn) and Risner (Ruth). What are you going to call it girls? Just simply the RANCH”? Oh, how original! Just leave it to our classmates to get ahead. Good luck girls. Oh, there goes Pat and Herm Seifert riding some of their horses. From Texas to Reno with a pocketful of Mother Puchta’s cookies, we find ourselves in front of the Savidge, Rail Doran Casino. All these years boys, and finally in the big chips. Reno is really quite a place isn’t it? Why looks like Don Stock and Dick Smiley have a funeral home here. Funny, they were always quite alive in good old C.H.S. Returning to Carey we find many changes have taken place in 23!4 years. Now if you want to buy a new car, there are a couple of old classmates that could give you a real bargain. Yes, Gloria Kidwell and Karen Keller are very successful auto saleswomen. For their bargains go the Kidwell’s Threvorolet or Keller’s Beep Beep” Rambler Rack. We find Julia Patrick playing Hucke from her family. She’s over visiting Ann and Roger Lortz, Pattie and Alan Davis. Of course the men are at work; Roger is a partner with Lowell Hablitzel in a trucking firm; Alan is a chemical engineer. Also in our thriving metropolis we find Don Wentling and Carl Hucke are head executive of Wrangler Overall Inc. Many new clubs have come into being since we left C.H.S. One of these is the newly formed Manhaters Club” with Betty Higgins, acting president, followed by other high ranking officials, Patty Taylor, Joyce Roynon, and Araminda Martinez. A rival club has also been formed, and what an appropriate name, The Man Appreciation Club.” Their highly qualified president, Roberta Kitzler, supported by ardent members, Dorothy Hunter, Helen Florea, and Joan Slike have been waging all-out wars to capture the devotion of the opposite sex. Remember your motto girls, Never give up!” Carey still looks the same as 2314 years ago. Of course Mayor Jim Messmer, and City Manager, Sam Welker have been very instrumental in the town’s prosperity. Assisted by a fine council, Jim Mullholand, David McLaughlin, and Larry England, the executives have done a fine job. Eddie Davis, local doctor, keeps telling everybody in Carey to Eat an apple a day, and kept me away.” If you don’t believe him ask his healthy nurse, the former Miss Donna Ward, she loves apples. In Doctor Davis’ waiting room, we find that Ellen Powers is waiting for her anticancer shot, you know, that miracle drug developed by the Wayne Niederkohr Medical Foundation. Meanwhile soap and water engineer, Larry Walters has temporarily abandoned his work to polish Ruthann Karg’s old diamond ring. Back to the floors Larry! Oh, and Dr. Davis asked that you quit singing ' I’ve got a wife at home” so much. What seems to be all the commotion down the street? Why it looks like that outer space expedition has just returned. Yes, Keith Richards and his harem of space cadets, Sue Ealey, Chuck,” Martian for Charlene Hackworth, and Droopy,” that’s short for Democrat, Krupp, have just returned from their maiden voyage to Pluto. Counting antennaes, Keith has made a startling discovery. Where is Cadet Sandra McLaughlin? Offering a plausible explanation, Cadet Carol Prescott explains that Sandra jumped from the rocket while journeying over the moon. She was last seen chasing a little green man over a crater. It seems though, that the green man was none other than Barry Craft with an upset stomach. Betty Conley, and Rose Arend, famous florists have met the Richards Expedition at the launching pad and are busy flinging flowers at the renown published Louann Schade who has just released the memoirs of Wiggles Wise. Linda recently made international headlines for being elected Queen of the Pigmies because of her unusual trick tow. All this fame hasn’t bothered her though, she still is flying as straight as a you-know-what. Well, in these 2314 years, our classmates have embedded themselves in some pretty odd jobs in some rather strange places, but knowing the old class of 1959, they’ll get out of it OK.
