This year, after commencement , We are set upon by the harder school of life. Many of us will continue on in our education, and many of us will find places as useful and able citizens of this United States of America. We refer to the words of our new Alma Mater to express our feelings toward dear old Carey High. At times, it was not always so pleasant, but the over-all View is gratifying. Our faculty has always stood behind us, patiently prodding and lending moral support. We extend our deepest and heartfelt thanks to those who helped to prepare us to meet and conquer life. Their influence has been lasting and for nought but good. Thank you, Carey! We take one last glimpse of our school thru misted eyes as we leave .......... lt is finished . . .' It is May 18, 20045 a day quite like yester- day, except that-You Are Supposed To Be There! As we settle in our old rocking chair, a cup of nourishment by our side, and a radio to add enjoy- ment to this wonderful evening of relaxation, we see that all of our Seniors are becoming very prom- inent figures. The only newspaper in circulation today is the Schwemley Times - but in such moments as this we either rely on the Schwemley Times or our old faithful radio. When one goes broke we turn to the other. This is the editor of the Schwemley Times re- porting for the Senior Class of '57. How could they publish such a paper? Edward Craft goes bank- rupt as Manager of the Carey Theatre. Why, he hasn't made enough in the last twenty-five years to actually keep our local duet team, Carol Clooney Snook and Iudy Kate Bleam better known as the Possum Trotters in business. He caused the whole music world a lot of unnecessary misery. Even Nina Rader lost her job playing for the Possum Trotters . Nina has been in saxophone business nigh on thirty years come this Iuvember the 3lst. On the first page of our local newspaper is al- ways a bit about the outstanding young farmers of tomorrow - and tomorrow it was - Claren Baker is now experimenting on how to raise two-headed Digs. Helen Fisher says it will never work. I guess she knows. She is now a registered nurse and is working for Dr. Hosafros. Booml Boom! An explosion in outer space. I wouldn't worry though - I guess it is just Mignon experimenting again. She has finally flown Saucer E-Sag-I to Alpha Centauri with Prof. Nye as chief astrogator. In the same walks of life are Richard Einstein Mitsch and Larry Vaughn who have re- cently set up their metalurgist shop. The world will 70 end soon enough with those three working here. Clem Ethyl Hoepf has purchased the Marathon Filling Station and has Darlene McCumber as book- keeper and head salesman. Down the street from Clem's is Happy Hablitzel's Barbershop. A shave and a haircut - three bits. Prices have gone up in the past twenty years. Speaking of prices there were a few salesmen in that Senior Class. Ion Kid Marine never made the grade though. He is still stockboy - Maybe he should take up acting with the Possum Trotters. Turning to the Sports Page of the Schwemley Times we find that Ierry Orians was hired by the Harlem Globe Trotters, maybe he can even beat Goose Tatum some of these days. Dave Coldiron and jerry are working together trying to persuade Chief of Police, Vernon Grubel, to install a bench in front of the Pastime so they won't have to stand all day. Bill Weasel Slike was fined last night for harm- ing a person and for disturbing the peace. He was practicing his bowling in the Economy Store. The person he injured was Velda Cole. Losing her false teeth in the mishap, she had to take the re- mainder of her plate to Dr. Linda Treece, Dentist. We are almost to the end of our newspaper but the Seniors always make the last pages. Carey Memorial Hospital: Sara Romig-registered nurse and also a patient today. Cause of sickness was the mere sight of blood rushing thru plastic tubes to Dwight D. Eisenhower's heart. Sara collapsed and is expected back on duty tomorrow. Incidentally, Eisenhower was buried some forty years ago. Also included in the hospital news is Mrs. Ronald Lee. Ronnie is well on his way to raising a baseball team - he now has three girls and three boys. Eddie Weaver, Coach of Crawford Tech. has volun- teered to coach Little Lee's League and try to make professionals of them. We find Sibyl Paderewski Wentling has just ,finished the unfinished symphony. It is now being C lass Prophecy published nation wide as the most outstanding mas- terpiece since the death of her master - Iohn Philip Saucer. After Sibyl finishes her music career she plans to unionize with Prof. Kay Saunders to erect a college in the heart of Adrian, for old maid nurses. On the home front we see that Carol Sue Barger Traxler is now rearing 6 little Traxlerites. She planned to be a speech teacher. I guess she uses her education. She is now teaching the children to say ma, ma , and da, da . Mary Shorty Arend has taken an interest in Bascom. She has helped to build Meadow Gold Inc. in Podunkville. In the comic section of the Schwemley Times we find Orphan Annie Faber and Blondie Wickiser are giving free Lilts on the corner of the Sunshine Square while their rivals Ioanne Sippy Twintng and Alice Chippy Hackworth are having a bit of repairing done by the head grease monkey at the Buick Garage, Eddie Wentling. Zooml Crash! That was jet fighter AZ9 landing. Aboard was Larry Fruth, pilot during the flight and co-pilot Iohn Drummond. They have succeeded in flying around the world in 15 minutes: remember this is 2004 not 1957. Competing in the Olympics from America are Jeanette Myers, famed baton twirler, Nancy Com- bine who has taken the place of Babe Ruth, famed tennis player, and Sharon Firealarm Tong who has recently swum the English Canal. In the line of buying property, Paul Arnold and Duane Lortz have just bought the last township in Wyandot County and have added it to their large farm organization. , In the line of authors, a great novel has been published. The World's Greatest Faulthoods, by Ilmmie Ioe Buckingham and Larry Dible. Someone always hits the political world. Diana Dunn White and Ieanne Davis Plott have just taken over Carey. Diana is mayor and Ieanne is the new city manager. They're doing a lot better than those bums did in 1957. News has run out on the home front and also in our local newspaper. I think I will have a nice hot cup of tea manufactured by Wild Bill Smiley and Sons. Now to our old faithful radio. World's most noted radio station FIZZ earlier known as WFOB has just changed disc jockeys. Bob Windy Hunter and Ion Cigar Miller play music for old age en- joyment not those rocking chair tunes. Stand by - news from Rome, Italy. Little Lulu better known as Linda DeAmicis has been chosen the dance queen of 2004. Runner-up in the tryouts was Sally Gardner, housewife, who was disquali- fied in the finals because she was the mother of five children. Sally's children have a chance though. Her smallest son is so cute: he has the hair of his mother: the eyes of his sisterp and his father's teeth. Oopsl Such a terrible mistake. Hts father didn't have any teeth. Smash! on Broadway, Lady Rides Again featuring Ethel Lady Kloepfer and Rosie Fatso Vaughn as the fortune teller of tomorrow. A new College has been erected on the corner of Sunshine Square, by Eileen Tewell and Sam Ruffing. It is called the School for the Bashful . Those who are enrolled at present are Patrick Calkins and Dennis White. just the place for those two I would say. Volunteers needed: Flash signal over FIZZ. Nancy Plott educated WAC has just received her thirteenth stripe. When she gets fourteen she will be given a dishonorable discharge. This is disc jockey Ion K. Miller and newspaper reporter I.I.I. Schwemley signing off for the class of nineteen hundred and fifty-seven. Signed, Sealed, and Delivered by the class of 1957 and our editor of the Podunkville Key, Iohn Hunter. This is a case history of the most unforgettable characters I have met written by the famed gossip editor, Nancy Atkins. 1'l Autographs .-f?w1?.'. lm'-if .'?f- H .V ' V ' - '. .- .-'Vw--VVg1VQ4- V- - - .
