CAREY HIGH SCHOOL Farewell, then. It is finished. I forgo With this all right in you, even that of tears. If I have spoken harshly, it will show How much I loved you. With you disappears A glory, a romance of many years. What you may be hence forth I will not know. The phantom of your presence on my fears Is impotent at length for weal or woe. Your past, your present, all alike must fade In a new land of dreams where love is not. We say then, farewell. The choice is made And we shall live to see the past forgot, If not forgiven. See, I came to curse, Yet stay to bless. I know not which is worse. —W. S. Blunt. . .

DEDICATION We, the class of 1952, have made this dedication in an effort to show in a small way the appreciation we feel for the many things in which Miss Clagett has helped us during our four years at Carey High School. With her help we have had many enjoyable programs at Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and especially her help with our Junior Class Play. A helping hand, a word of encouragement, and always the flowers to help brighten her room and the day for us. These things will always be remembered and appreciated. Her radiant personality will be the light which will guide us through the years. With these thoughts in mind, we would like to dedicate ‘The 1952 Caryatid’ to Miss Thelma Clagett. 4
