GRADE This is the second year we have been associated w1th the upper S1X grades of the ax 1X plan in our school system Although the sailing has been hazard us at t1F6S it seems to be a little more smooth than it was in Hur 1 Ist year for we feel as though we re learning to accept our increasi 5 responsibillties as our age increases Nr. Laird vas oar home room teacher last year and is lso our Iaculty sponsnr for tho present one. Our class officers for the seventh grade were President, natty Ewing, Secretary and Treasurer,N1ldred Nhitdker News Reporter, Louise Kererly, while this year we saw fit to elect as our representatives President, Robert Jickham, Vice President, Nlldrbd Other members of our group who have learned to do by doing are Paul Pressler and Betty Kinley who are Senior Band members, V1GtOr Dunn, Billy Montague, Leonard Nye, Robert Jickham, Jack Nlchaels, Rex Huston and Ted :on er who played on the Junior High Basket Ball team. Billy Montague won the Junior High Handball Tournarent. The following boys were on the Junior High Football Team Donald Crates, Donald Healy, Jack Nichaels, Billy Montague, Eugene Myers, Leonard Nye, Paul Press ler, Robert Wickham and Victor Dunn These boys appreciate very much the new uniforms which were furnished them For eight years now we have been accumulating knowledge of ourselves and the world about us, and we w1ll consider lt a happy climax to our school career so far if all the forty members in our class S8t1Sf8CtO r1ly complete the requirements of the State Eighth Grade Test and flnd themselves next fall 1n the ranks of the Freshman Class THE SEVENTH GRADE An outstanding department of our high school 1S the seventh grade. Here the pupils find training that need give little coruern about their not taking the proper place and living harmonlously with each other there are Just sixty pupils in the home room Probably the most tan gible and effective piece of work done by these pupils 1S their ability in keeping the hall teacher busy usherlng them to their proper places. This group of pupils 1S very appreciative of the opportunities given to them, but many times too eager to follow the splendid suggestions presented in the study hall by the upper classmen These pupils have the real cooperative spirit in the classroom, in clubs and in other or gaH1Z8t1OHS in which they participate By no means should lt be for gotten the spirit this grade displayed in presenting the Nashlngton Day Chapel program. While the seventh grade have found that it took some time to become adjusted to the new surroundings, they also were given the wholehearted cooperation of the busy teachers and their older friends. we recognize these newcomers of intrinsic worth to the student body of Carey High School. 'fl STAFF S1nC6 th1s newsreel 18 shown here in connectlon w1th a movle Wh1Ch dep1cts reel school life, we have declded to fllm for your pleasure ac tual scenes of school experlences from real life, lnstead of the us ual toplcs of the day Some of the scenes were photographed and report- ed by our regular staff men, a few, however, were reported by 1nd1V1dU81 members of some of the school organlzatlons whlch COD8t1tUt6 part of the V8F1OUS and d1verse phases of school life. There is much more to the productlon and completion of a plcture than the average person knows. There are many men behlnd the scenes who get no F6COgn1t1OH whatever when laud and congratulatlons are being shared by the producers, d1P6CtOPS, and cast. ve w1sh to use th1s space to COgD1Z9 the so called nmen behlnd the scenes . One thlng rather unusual and very democratic about th1s partlcular cinema is that some of the members of the cast held responslble posi t1ons off screen. Two of the ass1stant dlrectors were Elalne Z1ebarth, who worked much among the scenarlo wrlters and scrlpt girls, and Donald Wenner, who The press agents for the picture were Carolyn Donelson, Ruth Hosa fros, and Helen brandt. Three'who w1th asslstant dlrector Venner, a1d ed the producer by securlng partially the financlal backlng for this movie were Henry Brown, John Jacoby, and Harold Reinhart. Robert Strahn was the art director, who was respons1b1e for the beau tlful and different effects achleved throughout. Jane Fagan aided in d1scover1ng the talent whlch we used for comedy relief. Clyde Shull furnished the clever ldeas Wh1Ch we used in filmlng the sports scenes. Virgin1a Mitchell was the pr1nc1pal scrlpt glrl. Nithout the scrlpt wr1ters a mOV16 cannot make headway. The costume dlrector was Mary Ruth Spackey The chlef cameramen were Betty Bowman and Anna Johnson. Then there are the countless technlclans, electr1c1ans, property mon men in the cuttlng rooms, there is the sound recorder, and the men re SpOnS1b18 for the music and dance arrangements. Ne haven't the names of these persons available, but their work has been valuable, and we want them to know that we appreclate it. In cons1der1ng these contrlbutlons to the make up of the p1cture we must of course mention the outstand1ng contrlbutlons already mentloned several times before made by the producer and the dlrector. The dl rector worked among the above named often and offered his adv1se wher ever lt was most needed. Elalne Zlebarth . O s 1 x 1 4 x x 4 X . . .
