fi KWXYKT D F II T II R EZ F ll R hd E Ii S fQZfter a sum er of unusually hard work, 19 farm boys assembled in the Agriculture room to organize the Future Farmers of America. It resulted with the following officers---President, Vincent Browng Vice-president, George Beisg Secretary, Sylvester Myersg Treasurer, Harold Shumakerg Re- porter, Harold Reinhart, Five new members joined our organization and were initiated into the uGreenhandn degree of Future Farmers of America. Each one selected his projects for the year. These included 3 calf, 8 swine, 9 potato, 2 corn, 2 colt, 3 poultry, and 1 truck project. There are also ten keeping farm account records. Each one owned his project, and thus each one has taken more interest in his work. The F.F.A. has always tried to participate in the various judging con- tests in Ohio, and whenever possible, have sent judging teams to these places. Two teams went to Columbus-the potato and the apple judging team. Our potato judging team ranked sixth of the seventy-two participating. Other trips that we took of interest were: Dairy Day at Wooster, cattle judging at Toledo State Hospital, and Livestock judging at Ohio State Un- iversity. During the Carey Uommunity Institute the F.F.A. sold advertisements for the institute program and sponsored the corn show in connection with the institute. Owing to the weather condition last winter, seed corn testing was an imp portant item this year, the department having tested about one hundred bushels thus far. Our annual pest campaign Vwas very successful. Our opponents were the Short Course members. The F.F.A. were the victors. The annual Parent and Son Banquet and a F.F.A. party were also held. Finding ourselves at the end of this school term we hope that in the succeeding years the F.F.A. will be more active in work and endeavors. -Sylvester Myers- 1 9 5 6
