C WX Tift II O M E E C 4J'N O M I C S Home Economics stands for: The ideal home life of today unhampered by the past. The utilization of resources of modern science to improve the home life. The freedom of all the home from the dominance of things and their due subordination to ideals. The simplicity in material surroundings which will most free the spir- it for the more important and permanent interests of the home and of society. The Sophomore Clothing Units for the year wore: The study of com ercial pattern, undergarment construction, blouse and smocks, Christmas gifts, skirts-wool-cotton, home furnishings and dec- orations, construction of silk dresses,style show, uniform dresses for the Junior and Senior Banquet. Busy Needle Club: The aim of this club is to assist in the extra curricular activities of the Home Economics Department. Freshman girls with an average a- bove 91 are invited to become memkers of the club, Some of the club projects were: making curtains for the Home Economics lahoratory,spon- soring the style show,sponsoring the Junior and Senior Banquet prepar- atipns, the annual write up, care for all sewing machines and writing Home Economics news each week, The Freshman food units were: The preparation of fruits and vegetables, assisting with the cafeteria meals, making Christmas candies, studying etiquette and table service, serving Boester's Club banquets, preparing and serving breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and making balanced meal posters. The eighth grade units were: Lot pan holders, gifts, etiquette unit, simple desserts,Christmas can- dies, commercial patterns, under garments, simple print dresses.
