ORCHESTRA Pep,sincerity, and reliability is the combination of assets that have brought the Orchestra to the forefront in school activities. It plays for every function in which it is needed and in this nay lends its support to the school as o 'd1ole. Under the direction of Kiss moodfcre, and with the help of the president, Persis Fierce ond the librarion,Ruth Riester, the ployers have been orgonized into o well-bal- onced ond copnblc group. The High School Orchestra mode its first public oppeoronce at the nrmistice Dey celebration. Regular Thursday night reheorsols served to orepore us for this ouueoronce ond subsequent ones. During the course BAND Carey Hioh School con now be proud of her bond, for o goodly rum- ber of students are represented in it. Kr. Hutchinson his proved himself o very efficient director ond hos disciplined the rerbers so that the Bord rehearsals are ot- tendcd regularly. During the summer the Bend played concerts every Wednesday evening. These were sponsored by Corey business men and were olvzys well received by the covrurity.They also played in neifhboring cities at festivals and perks, which gave the participants os nuch pleasure os the listeners. By olaying at the home foot- ball and basketball games, the Bond imparted to the fighting Coyugos, the pep which they needed to play their best. These pep songs were entertaining to the fans os well. Eddie Messmer, bassg and Glenn Shumon, baritone, were representa- tives sent from the Corey Bond to the Northwestern Ohio Bend Festival :vu u nr v vuuL:L:L:L LJLQ 1 ..-gg --'ww-lrorvrofm 4. 1. nit A 1. . 1. of the musical profrom before the chisel assembly. These boys were two omonq 12, selected from over 200 contestants, who were oworded gold medals for their out- standing musiczl ability. Ideie and Glen deserve our most hearty concre- tulotions ond praise. As on outstinding feature of the summer, the Band enjoyed f?I s troin and boot trip to Detroit spon- sored by Kr. Brown, captain of the Chippewa. gpril proved a busy month for the band. It entered the Class HGH contest held ot Delohos, loril 21, participating against sixteen other bnnds,ond also entered 3 lorfe fes- tival held at Upper SLnCusky,Aoril 28. This festival was under the direction of Professor Eufene Wie- qle,director of bones at Ohio State University.
