began our tralnlng at Camp Cardlngton on September 2 1947 General Patterson and Colonel Gantz were our superlor offlcers Sergeants Gantz and Flsher were our tralnlng offlcers for our flrst phase of tralnlng On blvouac we hlked to the Columbus Zoo wlth our mothers flllng along wlth us For speclal entertalnment Iudy Llnstedt Dorothy Blngman and lohn Patterson volunteered to be ln the May Day actlvltles The second phase of tralnlng was spent under the SUDSTVISIOH of Sergeants Phllbrook and Byrd We were beglnnlng to wrlte lnstead of prlnt By thls tlme we were all gettlng accustomed to thls type of tralnlng Mary Waterer transferred to our group from Camp Mount Gllead We began our thlrd phase of tralnlng under Sergeants Gugel and Llchtenburger Thls year many of us volunteered to be ln the operetta We are now really advanclna ln our tralnlng we are beglnnlng to multlply and dlvlde Ioyce Truax and Edgar Reed lolned us from Camps Mount Gllead and Farrlsburg Our fourth phase of tralnlng was under the supervlslon of Sergeants Saunders and Schwartz We were ordered to partlclpate ln the May Day entertalnment by playlng our fluteaphones We added four new recrults They were Harold Brown Camp Hebron Lynn Maln Camp Crestllne Henry Sherman Carrp Fulton and Iames Garrlson Camp Prospect Sergeants Hartpence and Gale took us through our next maneuvers We learned more about our states and capltals Transfers thls year were B1l1Bensley ludy Somerlot and HOlllS Eastep from Camps Caledonla Marlon and Marengo Our slxth phase of tralnlng was headed by Sergeants Burggraf and Gale We had learned most of the fundamentals of educatlon and were preparlng for Junlor hlgh tralnlng We were moved to a new bulldlng for thls tralnlng New recrults were Davld DGVIS Beverly Blnehart Sandra Wllley and Mary Lou Evans from Camp Mount Gllead The seventh and elghth phases were more or less comblned under the maln supervlslon of Ser geants Akron and Saunders Durlng thls phase we were allowed more freedom and many of us partlcl pated ln basketball cheerleadlng and the May Pole Dance We were lolned by DCIV1d Wells from Camp Caledonla ID the seventh phase and ln the elghth by Bamon Whaley Camp Vernon Center New York and Blchard Murphy Camp lberla Sergeant Hert was our maln supervlsor for the nlnth phase Thls year began the hlghllght of our tralnlng We are flnally consldered old enough to vote Corporal Iohn Patterson was selected for the head of our platoon Marlman Kaelber was selected for the honor of b lng cheerleader and she remalned ln thls posltlon throughout the three flnal phases For the May Day entertalnment Mary Lou Evans and Dorothy Blngman volunteered to b attendants Camp Fulton slgned over to us f1V9 new recrults They were Blll Bradley Tom Brown Sam Grlmm Rex
