Class Hzstory On September 3 I946 SIXTY one young boys and gurls from the vlllage of Cardlngton and the surroundlng com munlty took off ln the Rocket of Educatlon On our flrst fllght at C H S we had Mrs Gantz and Mrs Mc Allster as our stewardesses and Mr Patterson as our pllot and Mr Gantz as our co pllot Some of us had a selge of homeslckness, but Wlfh our flrst blg adventure to the zoo lt was soon overcome Cllnglng to a star on the way up ln the heavenly bodles we saw two Ilttle starlets, Jane Patterson and Janls Holt as flower glrls and a star Patrlck Schorr as crown bearer The second year we had as our stewardesses Mrs Byrd and MISS Phllbrook We added to our solar system, Margaret Egten from Van Wert Carol Thompson from Marlon and Wheeler Llndsay along wlth eleven other stars and we lost along the way elght falllng stars Also that year on earth durlng Chrlstmas tlme we had a VISIT to toyland and enloyed CCTIHQ as donclng dolls ID a toy shop The thlrd year we had as our stewardesses Mlss Llch tenburger and MISS Gugel We rocketed further lnto the heavens and watched the presentatlon of a play called The Golden Goose Travellng along we plcked up Judy Toomey from Marlon, and Roderlck Jenklns along wlth elght other new stars FIVE stars then fell to an other planet In our fourth year of adventurlng lnto space, our stewardesses were Mrs Sommers and Mrs Saunders Durlng the mlddle of our trlp we lost Mrs Sommers and galned Mrs Schwartz and also we lost Mr Gantz and took on as our new co pllot Mr McAllster We VISll6d our flrst planet durlng thls adventure and added to our llst of stars Donald Ault from Marengo George Dlsterdlck from MOFIOH ond Kay Sellars from Pleasant along Wlfh four other new stars Whlle vlsltlng thls planet, we pre sented our second Chrlstmas hollday play ln whlch we were featured as Ilttle green Chrlstmas trees As the months went by we were asked to partlclpate ln the May Day festlvltles by playlng our fluteaphones We left be hlnd on thls planet four falllng stars Durlng our flfth fllght we had as our stewardesses Mrs Gale and Mrs Hartpence We headed back to earth to spend Chrlstmas ln Mexlco and one of our stars De Wayne Jones vlslted Cleveland on a prlze trlp he won at the Falr We also added to our llst of stars Davld Arehart from Mt Gllead Samuel Mosher from Marengo Harold Sherman from Fulton Melvln Zelgler from Ashley Llnda Llnscott from Marlon and Larry Crum along wlth elght new stars We dropped off elght falllng stars Endlng our flfth fllght we blasted lnto space Durmg our slxth and flnal fllght ln the elementary solar system we had as our co pllot Mr Mlller and as our Stewardess Mrs Burggraf After the new addltlon to our rocket of educatlon we moved lnto our new rooms One of our stars Samuel Mosher recelved flrst prlze for hls poster he made for the Penny Soclal At the ClOSIl lQ of May we had a lot of fun dolng the VIFQIHIO Reel One of our stars Lowell Yoke left us whlle Raymond Carsner from Marengo and Barbara Evans from Mt Gllead lolned us along wlth flVe other stars We were sorry to have left behlnd fourteen of our falllng stars As we plcked up speed ln our C H S rocket we moved on to our seventh fllght We had as our stewardess Mrs Akron Thls was a great adventure for we were on the go movlng from class to class now Thls fllght we elected our flrst star presldent Melvln Zelgler Further on we saw the rays of the May Pole dancers form a ralnbow of colors We were really proud of our star basketball play ers thls year for we won the Junlor Hlgh Tournament There was one star added to our llst but we lost ln the stardust elght Mr Saunders was our co pllot whlle Davld Flsher was our presldent durlng our Elghfh fllght We threw out the welcome mat for Robert Johnson who recovered from a long lllness We also added to our llst of stars Mary Lou Danlel from Radnor along wlth four other stars We were sorry to see four fdlllhg stars leave us Towards the end we were asked to select our courses for the next fll ht gAs stars we now had a great adventure ahead of us the most lmportant years of our fllghts We had as our stewardesses Mrs Patterson MISS Burr and Mrs Mowery Our presldent was Sllver Russell and we enloyed watchlng her ln the homecomlng and Mary Danlel as May Day attendant We plcked up from Fulton Tom Wolford Robert Stalger and Janet Gordon, Sally Hull from Mt Gllead along wlth twelve other new stars Leavlng be hlnd three falllng stars we contlnued our lourney lnto space Our tenth flught havlng Mrs Patterson as our steward ess and as our star presldent Denny Denton we enter tanned ourselves by havlng a dance We were also over layed to see the sweaters arrlve, that we ordered earller ln the fllght As eatlng IS one of our enjoyable hablts we sponsored a chlll supper Our homecomlng attendant was Carol Thompson and on May Day our attendants were Judy Toomey and Joyce Bowers We were also hon ored ln acceptlng the posltlon as walters and waltresses at the Junlor and Senlor Banquet Eva Mulllns from Van lue we happlly accepted among our llst of stars along Wlfh fIVe others We were dlsappolnted however to see elghteen stars fall to another planet Thlngs started to progress durlng our eleventh fllght for we were really flylng along smoothly We had as our co pllot Mr Bell and stewardess Mrs Rlchey the star presldent was George Rengert Thls year we ordered a momento that we wlll have wlth us the rest of our llves our class rlngs Also ln our memory we wlll have Beauty and the Beef our Junlor class play whlch we gave durlng fhlS fllght, along wlth belng hosts and hostesses to the senlors by QIVIDQ the Junlor and Senlor Banquet South of the Border Mary Lou Danlel was elected May Queen and her attendants were Sllver Russell Nancy Rush and Lols Betts Beverly Mahaffey was homecomlng attendant We plcked up three new stars, Mary Brookes from Homes Llberty Beverly Mahoffey from MOTION and Lowell Yoke from Waldo we lost flfteen falllng stars On our last and flnol fllght ID the C H S rocket of educatlon we antlclpated many events we had as our co pllots Mr May and Mr Mercer On senlor day the glrls wore the new forward look of 58 Our money maklng prolects were selllng statlonery Chrlstmas cards and magazlnes to help ralse money for our trlp to New York and Washlngton by traln leavlng May l7 for flVe days We put Dlno on for our senlor play In Moy we elected Marcella DIXOU Beverly Mahaffey and Barbara Evans as attendants and also sponsored a May Day dance On the nlght of Moy lO we were taken on a Rendezvous of the Stars On May 25 we had our Baccalaureate SGFVICE and on the nlght of May 26 the cllmax of our fllght Commencement The class speaker was Rev Phll llp Auer of Gallon Twenty sux of the
