Mr. Davis, a graduate of Rio Grande High School, has B.A. and M.A. de- grees from Ohio University. He taught at Beaver Dam in western Ohio for one year. Milton Wallace 'se' Jon Yake CLHSS Gee' but ut s fun to get out the scrapbook and look at the souvenurs you have collected durung your hugh school years On Page I of the scrapbook I see a pucture of our furst grade class and our teachers Mrs Slack and Mrs Adams There were fufty nune of us that year We started out from the shelter of our parents and our homes to begun our school lufe on September I l 1944 I remember the day a group of us got paddled for walkung on the tables Boy' we knew enough not to do that agaun Just below our class pucture us a pucture of two luttle gurls all dressed up un formols I wonder what they were up to? Oh' Now I remember It s Jerry Fowble and Dana Sherman who were flower gurls for the May Queen In the second grade our unstructors were Mrs Adams and Muss Randolph We gauned a new member Sam Gantz Betty Dunaway was a new member durung our thurd year Muss Phulbrook and Muss Luchtenburger were our teachers that year Durung the year we had our furst taste of exams Although we grew used to them un the years to come we could never brung ourselves Durung our fourth year we had Muss Luchtenburger and Mrs Saunders as our teachers We put on a play about The Golden Goose and unvuted the other rooms to see ut We were under the guudance of Mrs Hartpence and Mrs Gale durmg the fufth grade Lookung at the class pucture I see two new faces They are Emuly Reed and Merle Toomey We sold seeds that year and bought a nuce guft for our room wuth the money Our suxth grade teachers were Mrs Gale and Mr Cook Our new classmates thus year were Sylvua Truax Janeene Rogers and Raymond Maple After a long sux years we were funally un Jumor Hugh Many of the boys were on the Junuor Hugh basket ball team Some of the gurls were cheerleaders and dud a fune uob of backung the boys Durung these two years Charles Brown Jack Olson Rose Evans and James Lunscott uouned us HISTURV In our Freshman year ut was quute a thrull to be able to elect May Queen and Homecomung Attendants and Student Councul representatuves Ruchard Shoemaker Inez Gorden and Jerry Gandee became members or our class durung the Freshman year When we were Sophomores we chose Red and Gray as our class colors and we ordered our sweaters We chose the red rose as our class flower and gave a dance on St Patruck s Day Two of our gurls Rodella Jenkuns and Carol Harrus were elected cheerleaders In May we were trans formed unto wauters and wautresses for the Junuor Senuor banquet Bud Bush and Marue Thompson uouned us that year One of our buggest years was when we were Junuors We gave two dances a supper and ordered our class rungs On November l9th a group of us proved that we had actung abuluty when we presented our class play Mother Was A Freshman The May Queen for thus year was Carol Harrus We gave the Senuors an Evenung un Parus for theur banquet In our Junuor year we receuved two new members Bull Phullups and Paulune Muley Turnung the page we now come to our buggest year the year we were Senuors To start thungs off Jon Yake was elected to lead the class as Presudent In October we had a chule supper before the Homecomung game at whuch Carol Harrus reugned as Queen On St Patruck s Day we gave a dance and un Aprul ordered our announcements The Senuor Class play was The Remarkable lncudent at Carson Corners whuch everyone seemed to enuoy On the nught of May l2th we were taken on an Hawauuan Cruuse by the Junuor Class Two days later we left for our trup to Washungton and returned on the 19th a tured but happy group On the 20th we had our baccalaureate servuce and on the nught of May 24th the clumax of our hugh school years Commencement The class speaker was Mr Phulup Eblung of Dayton Ohuo As we look back through the scrapbook ut brungs back all the uoys and sorrows of our I2 years of school Yes scrapbooks certaunly brung back many Moments to Remember don t they ,, . . .
