In Days Gone By One braght September mornang an 1943 some very young and homesack passengers boarded the Traan of Educataon The conductors were Mrs Wanda Adams and Mrs Lucalle Slack After our tears were draed and our noses blown we learned many thangs to make us better passengers After a slaght layover we returned to fand two new passengers LaCreta McClash and Dottae Haycook The conductors on thas second leg of the aourney were Mrs Wanda Adams and Mass Elazabeth McBrade Landa Westbrook Marsha Westbrook Jack Seatter and Don Waterer loaned us on the thard leg of the aourney wath Mass Carrae Phalbrook and Mass Martha Lachtenberger as the conductors For the farst tame an three years we got a taste of examanataons They certaanly werent welcomed but we grew usd to them as the semesters rolled by For the fourth leg of the aourney we were conducted by Mrs Clarace Saunders and Mass Martha Lachten berger Margaret Byrd boarded our traan that year but we almost lost one passenger Dottae Haycook when she suffered a bad fall on the playground We started off agaan after a short rest wath three new passengers Pat Jones George Etgen and Ralph Strohl Mrs Golda Gale and Mrs Elva Hartpence served as capable conductors for these few males ln the fall of 1948 we once agaan trudged up the steps to the Traan of Educataon wath our conductors Mrs Golda Gale and Mr Samuel Cook to help us Im sure all of us remember strugglang to learn the countaes and county seats of Ohao that year Ealeen Reed loaned us that year too The followang year we boarded a dafferent traan We had many teachers durang our years an Junaor Hagh School seventh and eaghth grade Thas was really somethangl but the newness soon wore off We gaaned two new passengers Dolores Lawrence Shaffer and Jon Sellars Jon had left us at the second leg of our lourney but he tells us that the lure of Cardangton was too much for ham he lust couldnt stay away The Junaor Hagh Basketball team won the County Champaon shap the farst year of thas aourney a feat of whach we were very proud A short vacataon was made the most of and the aollowang year we fanally got on the traan called Hagh School Mrs Kay Kendall served as our conductor Fave new passengers loaned us that year Patty Fowler, Phyllas George Jane Lanum Johnny Brown and Vaun Coykendall September 1952, we returned for our second year of hagh school We gaaned two new passengers Lynn Chalfant and Ball Larcom We selected red and whate as our class colors and ordered our class sweaters Mr Heber Schellenger and Mr Floyd Davas helped us wath our class proaects the largest of whach was the Shamrock Dance Many of us receaved a bag thrall from servang at the Junaor Senaor Banquet we even rated two head waaters and two hat check garls A other honor an our class that year was the fact that the one act play Hercules Naght Out was made up of sophomores wath the exceptaon of one Quate an honor for sophomores' ln our Junaor year we ordered our class rangs They came In January and were we ever proud' We gave our Junaor Class play an November The name of at was Tattletale and at was a huge success Chosen from our class as May Queen of 1954 was Landa McElroy The haghlaght of the year was the Junaor Senaor Banquet whach we gave on May 15 The theme was Moonlaght and Roses and at was beautafully deco rated-or so we thought We sat up many naghts anto the wee hours makang roses and some of us sand we never wanted to see another rose as long as we laved Mr Heber Schellenger and Mass Loas Shumway were our conductors Paul Wells loaned us that year In the fall of 1954 we fanally reached that long awaated year and we were senaors Mr Hert our class advasor worked hard and long wath us If we don t turn out to be a whoppang success at wont be because he dadn t try Our last passenger Don Edgecombe loaned us at thas poant Our class proaects were many that year some of whach were the Homecomang Dance and Chala Supper lbefore the Cardangton Bag Walnut football gamel the Vactory Dance and Chala Supper for the Cardangton Mt Galead football gamc+and we won too-bake sale magazane sale Snowflake Dance wath the Junaors class play Stractly Formal and the May Day Dance Columbus and had a wonderful tame Some of the garls laccadentallyl went anto the men s dormatory at Ohao State lm sure that the school was an awfully dull place that day wathout our braght and smalang faces On May 14 1955 the Junaor Closs gave us a won derful Junaor Senaor Banquet Thanks kads On May 16 we left for our Senaor Trap to Wash angton and Varganaa lt was really wonderful Fanally after returnang from the trap on May 21 the two bag events an our hagh school lafe took place Baccalaureate on May 22 wath Rev T C Partridge as the speaker and Commencement on May 26 wath the speaker beang Dr Marcus Raeke of Columbus Ohao Out of our class of 50 there are 28 who have stayed wath us all twelve years They are Sharley Beam Gloraa Burggraf Norata Frrcke Janenne Hea cock Carol Lawhead
