ETIQUETTE AWARD RECIPIENTS Charlotte Patterson, sr.-lst sem. Jeanne Rengert, sr.-2nd sem. Student Council During the i952-53 school year the many activi- ties of our Student Council included the following: The selection of eight well deserving students to hold the title of Student of the Month. From these eight, one was selected to hold the honor of Student of the Year, Also the council has had a great hand in choosing the students to receive the Emily Post Award. Each semester ten names are submitted by the Council to the faculty for the award. The faculty then selects the one they feel most worthy of this honor. Did you notice the decorations last December? The Council certainly deserves a hand for the fine job they did to help bring about a bright Christmas spirit. Some of the other activities promoted by the Student Council are sponsoring movies, homecoming activities, promoting the annual election of cheer- leaders, and sponsoring assembly programs. The ex- change assembly with Mt. Gilead proved to be quite a hit with the students of both schools. The sweat shirts, scarves, beanies, etc., with our emblem of the pirate which you have often seen were sold by the Council members. STAFF Editor ........................ Its quality of reporting has merited our SEARCHLIGHT recognition by Quill and Scroll, the international society ot high school journalists, and six of our students this year were recommended tor individual membership in the so- ciety on the basis ot their journalistic ability and accomplish- ment. Published monthly throughout the year, the SEARCHLIGHT, under the capable supervision of Mrs. Patterson, staff advisor, with a subscription rate of S .70, had a circulation of approx- imately BOO.
