years of learnmg Of the forty four that entered erghteen of them are sttll wlth us These members are Betty Bowers Donald Clark Harold Clrnger Eugene Coomer Iames Davrs Ioan 1-lack Rolhe Harms Marvm I-lermlrch Rrchard I-lrmler Steven Macey ko Iune Landon Shrrley Leverrng Carolyn Patterson Duane Phrlbrook Paula Rrggs Shelra Rogers Dale Underwood and Io Ann Westbrook Barbara Sparks and Nancee Kester started therr school here but later each moved away However the lure of Cardmgton was too much for them so they reyotned us and have stayed ever srnce Mr Rolland Thompson was super mtendent and Mrss Kathryn Krng and Mtss Ruth Srpple were our able mstructors Lookmg back we all re member our lrttle rugs and our afternoon naps When we returned rn the fall of 40 we found Mrss Evelyn Eurbrmk M1ss Kathryn Krng and a new face Claudme Hart awartrng us We entered rather reluc tantly for we were now well rmtrated 1n thrs thmg called school We stuck 1t out for n1ne months however and then wrth a brg cheer we left for a whrle Ralph Mosher and Arthur Ebert went wrth us when rn September 1941 we entered the portals of C HS to and Mrss Moneta Smith Nothrng eventful happened to us that year but then we were now fully accustomed to the fate whrch had fallen to us We had had a happy vacatron so we happrly re turned to school rn 1942 to greet Iackre 1-lollanshed Carroll Ferguson Arthur Dudley and our teachers Martha Lrchtenberger and Mrss Genev1eve Moore also had a new supermtendent Mr I Clrne Slack Thanksgrvrng vacatron was suddenly saddened year when we learned of the tragrc death of Mrller a classmate Mrss e Our that Carl September 1943 arrrved and agam we trudged up the walks of CHS to be welcomed by two new teachers Mrs Lucrlle Graumlrck and Mrs Golda Gale New classmates that year were Vrvran Carpenter and Paul lrons Our Frrday mornmg exerctses are a happy memory from thxs perrod of our educatlon Serrals Outz Shows I-ht Parades-Oh' we had them all and usually they were made up as we went along Ioyfully we returned 1n 1944 for thrs would be our last year rn grade school Our teachers were Mrs Golda Gale and Mrs Lela Conaway We had to learn the countres and county seats of the state of Ohro that year and how we all hated rt We could hardly wart for school to start rn 1945 for we were entermg Iunror l-lrgh School Mr I L Patterson was the new supenntendent and Mr Ray Saunders was our home room teacher Eleanor Dunaway Erleen Ktsor Beverly Stockdale Ralph Claytor and Glenn Saunders yorned us Thrs was somethmg' several new subyects added to our currrculum drfferent teachers class olfrcers changmg classes I thrnk we all ltked our geography class the best because Mrs Holden made 1t qurte mter estrng ln May we counted our class money and ttnally decrded that we had enough money to have a hayrrde to the State Lakes at Mt G1lead Mr Ray Saunders met us agarn 1n the fall of 46 Several people rorned our class but they soon left our class was much the same as rt had been Tragedy agarn struck our class as Carl Gattshall dred soon after school started A whole host of students from Fulton met us rn 47 but only one Doyle Showewalter remams wrth us Mrs Nelda Akron was our home room teacher the frrst semester and Mrs Kathryn Kendall the second semester Thrs was Cardmgtons frrst year for football and we were proud of our representatrves on thrs team September 1948 and Mollre Hardman Jorned our ranks whrch was headed by Mr Lyman Hert The hxgh pomt of thrs year was our Sprmg Dance lt was a great success and well rt should have been for we worked very hard on rt And of course we wont forget our frrst attempts at bemg authors as we wrote our autobrographres Mrss Faye Burr greeted us rn 1949 as we arrrved wrth several new members loe Rtchey Rrchard Stotler Charlotte Henthorne and Gerald Ault One of our ftrst accomplrshments was choosrng our class rrngs and class sweaters of royal blue and whrte Our class play The Ghost Parade was next on the agenda and what a play that was' Later rn the year we decrded to carry on the tradrtron of honormg the Semor Class wlth a banquet and we decrded on the theme cf a Showboat named the Cotton Blossom We were happy to return rn the fall of 1950 for thrs would be our last year Mr Lyman Hert was our home room teacher and Samuel Fryman stayed wrth as a whrle before tommg Uncle Sam After a rather small argument we decrded that Cubberlys of Delaware should take our ptctures After order1ng name cards and announcements we began dtscussmg our trlp to Washmgton D C wrth Mr and Mrs J L Pate son and Mr and Mrs Lyman l-lert as our chaperons Our class play and our trlp to Columbus were other memorable dates One of our last acts was to choose our class flower a yellow rose and our class motto Knowledge rs Power Then before we realrzed rt the twenty four n day of May 1951 had arrrved and thrrty nxne me'n ers of the class sorrowfully recerved therr drplomas and no longer were we part of the hustle and bus le that s
