Three state-ranked mat- men earned the Cardinals a tie for 5th in the State. Coach Patrick Reilly's grap- plers walked away with the Whitmer Invitational and Northwood Invitational Tour- naments, where Senior Co- Captain Tom Could won both Outstanding Wrestler awards. N. ' X-i 'Q - . 1. rf . They placed second in the Catholic Invitational Tourna- ment. Senior Co-Captain Dave Reed, Could, and Junior Al Moran advanced to state com- petition by taking 2nd, lst, and 3rd, respectively, in their weight divisions in the district finals. At 175 lbs., Could took second in State after pinning two and decisioning one of his four opponents. Reed and Mor- an completed the successful season by taking fourth and sixth in state, respectively, in the 154 and 145 lb. classes. At the Wrestling Banquet, Sophomo1'e Warren Ivan, 165 lbs., was given the Most Im- proved Wrestler Award and Could was named Most Valu- able Wrestler. His is the new school record of 30-2, with 19 pins.
