Music is a real focal point in today ' s world — especially with its innovations in sound and style. Ritter ' s music de- partment, in striving for that perfect note managed to entertain throughout the school year, while winning numerous awards in state-wide competition. The annual Christmas show had the largest audience ever this year, and the band ' s cooperation with ' Take It From The Top ' contributed to the fun and over-all success. Still somewhat incredulous over the concert band ' s first place division showing is Mr. Ted Hinkle, band director. Could it have been hi; flashy outfits that gave the little extra something to their per formances this year?! Ritter ' s corps members have shown themselves to be not only an asset to the band, but also a form of entertainment all the own. Patty Parshall, as head majorette, and Mrs. Connie Hagist designed their always-interesting routines. Performing both on stage and behind the scenes were corps officers: Anne Fisher, uniform manager; Mary Jo Gude, property manager; Patty Parshall, head majorette; Rhonda Price, assistant choreographer; and Sherry Barrett, business manager. Behind Mrs. Hagist, Dove Richey reflects the organized manner of the last few rehearsals. From its high kicking opening scenes to the flag- waving grand finale, Take It From the Top, Ritter ' s first musical, was acclaimed as an exciting evening of entertainment by audience, cast, and crew. Mrs. Connie Hagist, who first conceived the idea of combining scenes from thirteen different Broadway musicals, was assisted by Mrs. Sherri Scott, Miss Tina Peck, Mr. Duffy Hagist, and Mr. Ted Hinkle in directing over 150 Ritter students, who took port in the musical. Despite grumblings over late rehearsal hours, rushed meals, and missing costumes, the general comment after the final performance was Let ' s do it again! International Dinner: Friendly Get-Together For the foreign language department, the biggest bash of the year is always the International Dinner, where one is served special dishes native to each country rep- resented. It is ever-popular with both the students and their parents. The planning for the dinner takes several weeks, and almost three days for the actual cooking and decorating. However, volunteers are not hard to find. Everyone likes to pitch in and help because the gay chatter and spirit puts them in a light-hearted mood. But the majority of credit for our successful dinners must go, of course, to Mr. Wyeth and Mrs. Staddon, heads of the French Department; and to Mrs. Bieberich, head of the Spanish Department, for their expert guidance and hearty efforts. Thanks must also be given to Mr. Staddon who worked hard all day, and did a superb job of pouring the wine.
