The best is yet to come Who wants it? , shouted Coach Jim Arbogast from the sideline as several Newman players dived for the loose ball. The twelve who wanted it on the 1980-81 basketball team faced an uphill battle all year long, with most students and faculty in opposition to rather than behind the team. This, combined with the decisions of two lettermen not to play, and the controversial cut of Bud Rossomme, second leading scorer and leader in assists from the previous year, led to much criticism of the program. However, the dissension created a close-knit team which, after leaving the early season problems behind, set out to put some numbers in the W column. The accent on Arbogast ' s third edition of cagers was youth, and It was evident by the return of only one starter, senior Harold Maass. With that in mind, Arbogast ' s synop- sis of this year ' s team was this team ' s best basketball is yet to come. Their record was 5-22.
