Varsity football Newman ' s season was not with- out its humorous moments. These included the fashionable high-top cleats worn by junior Tom Glancy and seniors Bud Rossomme and John Kerns, the makeup consisting of black paint under the eyes when the team played Jupiter, nominations for scapegoat of the week on the post-game bus rides, and the intrigu- ing art work decorating selected lockerroom posters. Coaches and players found that they could combine hard work with lighter moments, and jokes were not omitted from lockerroom talk. All team experiences — winning, losing, having fun and sharing it all — won ' t be forgotten by the members of the 1980 football squad. They were too close-knit.
