What is not immediately apparent is the diversity of lives, the diversity that makes Cardinal Newman High School different. Whether it be humdrum activities of a normal day or the excitement of special events, student life at Newman emphasizes that to be different is to be typical. For over 1200 Newman students August 25 meant . . . Goodbye beach, hello teach They came from as far south as Boca Raton, north from Jupiter, west from Wellington, and east from Palm Beach. They came by way of bus, car, truck, and van for the big event. After three months of It was great coming for the first week of scfiool when all you did was party and did no work. Chris Calhoun -sophomore relaxation on sunny beaches. Cardinal Newman High School students assembled for the first day of school. Sounds of Who do you have for English? , Let me see your schedule, and Did you see that guy? filled the halls. After their first encounter with new homeroom teachers, the students were let loose to search for classes. Then came the mispronuncia- tion of names, the seating in alphabetical order, and the laying down of class laws. The rules ranged from religion teacher. Father Lemoncelli ' s dislike of spiral paper to Democracy vs. Commun- ism teacher Mr. Mike Wisniewski ' s seven o ' clock a.m. make-up exam. As the week progressed, both underclassmen and upperclassmen expressed different opinions about their return to the books. Freshman Billy Resnik shyly stated, I think starting high school is a good experience. Sophomore Chris Calhoun, familiar with the routine after one year, boldly declared, It was great coming for the first week of school when all you did was party and did no work. You I ' m glad we ' re finishing our final year at Cardinal New- man because of all the prospects of the future we have. Joe Coates - senior checked out all the new women and got to see your friends again.
