The Big Three (Extra) ordinary people They were the people behind that ambiguous term, the administra- tion, and none of them will tell you their jobs were easy. But each one had the knack of emphasizing the positive aspects of their offices. That ' s because Dean of Students, Mr. Ken Berg, Assistant Principal, Miss The biggest problem is lacl of communication ... -Mr. Tom Bornhorst principal Colleen Courtney, and Principal, Mr. Tom Bornhorst believe in dealing with people in a positive manner. Mr. Bornhorst defined his job as supervising the overall operation of the school. That encompassed a great deal, and a smooth day was rare. Mr. Bornhorst found that the biggest problem confronting him was I ' m a dean FOR students, not of students. -Mr. Ken Berg dean of students lack of communication and under- standing between faculty, students and parents. But he added that personal contacts with dedicated and loyal people made up for those difficult days. Mr. Berg emphasized that he was a dean for students, not of students, adding that he wanted to help students, not punish them. Some- times the latter could not be helped, however, and Mr. Berg explained that he had to enforce the rules, whether he liked the results or not. Miss Courtney had the difficult task of scheduling student activities, checking organizations ' budgets and supervising the distribution of report cards. Her biggest problem was fighting disorganization. Both Miss Courtney and Mr. Berg taught a class in addition to performing administrative duties, agreeing that teaching is what they enjoy dealing witfi students on a one to one basis. -Miss Colleen Courtney assistant principal enjoy most and interacting with students in groups and one to one.
