Beyond the call of duty The managers were as much a part of the team as the most valuable player was. Their jobs included scorekeeping, taking sta- tistics, preparing equipment, mak- ing the Gatorade, and running errands for their coaches. Without the organization of the managers, very little could have been accomplished. It was the managers who attended practice and willfully performed those tasks that the athletes were unable to do. This unselfishness was exem- plified by senior Beth Bonnell who had been a manager of the J.V. and Varsity Volleyball Teams for four years. She said, I found it fun being with my friends while also helping things run a little more smoothly. Due to the dedication and service of those managers, who chose to work behind the scenes instead of standing in the limelight, every sports event ran smoothly. It ' s called going beyond the call of duty. TOP: Volleyball manager Beth Bonnell, senior helps out the team during one of their workouts.
