Ybor it Setting For Spanish Test The seniors and the few un- derclassmen members of the Spanish II classes had a rare and w-onderful treat Wednes- day night. In fancy clothes and high spirits they took off after school for Tampa's Las Noveda- des. The restaurant was a per- fect atmosphere for the belab- ored students to practice two hard years of Spanish. I COUGAR CUFF NOTES Ann 1 I QQ QE5 . ' - .. .- KUIHP2 - 'A-e Even before arriving at th e restaurant there was much fun on the road. Four cars filled to the seams with laughing, sing- ing people hit the road and maintained a continuous song fest all the way from Sarasota to Tampa. Once there, some of the stu- dents, those in the car of Senor Oscar Rodriguez went to a Span- ish cafe for Cuban coffee, and others walked a bit, enjoying the sights of Ybor City. The Sarasota people were joined at the restaurant by Father Miguel Garcia and his Spanish class- es from Bishop Barry in St. Pe- 1 l l l beginning to end. Father Gar- cia sang and Senor Rodriguez sang and two guitars played on and on to the laughing and clap- .ping of the thoroughly enchant- ed group. A real highlight of the evening was the dancing of a senorita named Linda. Clicking Castanets A friend of Senor Rodriguez danced in Spanish costume. The clicking castanets fitted in well with the rest of the evening. l i The only exception to the Spanish evening was a gay in- terlude of Irish American songs jplayed by Cardinal Mooney's Father James Crotty. The danc- ing and singing and eating and enjoyment went on into the far night, until the group sadly broke up at midnight. No men- tion of the evening would be lcomplete without thanking the men who accompanied the stu- ldents: Fathers Foynes, Crotty, lGarcia, Ruiz, Cortez, and Senor Rodriguez. j Most of all though, everyone ffrom Sarasota wants to say a g Muchas Gracias, Padre, to jFather Victorio Aguera, who en- labled us to go to Tampa, and jwho taught us the Spanish that Qenabled us to talk after we got lthere. The evening was anoth- fer of the memories we will al- lways remember from out last year at Cardinal Mooney.
