PAGE 4 IUNE, 1958 FROM THE PRINCIPAL S DESK Iesus said Do not let your heart be troubled or be afraid To say Do not let implies that we have control over whether or not we are going to be troubled whether or not we are going to be afraid It implies that even if we cannot exercise con trol over our environment we can exercise control over the souls re- sponse to that environment so that we are not afraid It implies that we can avoid being troubled even though we cannot avoid troubles What advice then does Iesus give to teach us how to be untroubled and unafraid? You believe in God H says Believe also in Me I am the way and the truth and the life and whatever you ask in my name that I will do lf you ask any thing in My name I will do it There you have the first means umon with God through prayer Lift up your hearts we say Prayer is the act of lifting the mind and heart to God Lifting implies effort and so does prayer We do not have to feel like praying in order to pray We Just pray because we need it and praver begets confidence The second means is union with God through grace If you love Me keep My commandments Iesus said He continued emphatically He who has My commandments and keeps them he it is who loves Me But he who loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and manl fest Myself to him If God be for us who or what can overcome us? God and I stand united against my adver sary lust keep the commandments This takes love and is love Iesus said and love conquers all The third and final means of control over the response of the soul to en vironment is union with God through the Holy Spirit I will not leave you orphans Iesus said l will come to you I will ask the Father and He will give you another Advocate to dwell with you forever the Spirit of Truth He will dwell with you and be in you He will teach you all things IDEAL GIRL Smile Sheila McClenathan Eyes Noreen Gunther Hair Sally Michalski Teeth Nancy Centner Height Dolores Stelmach Charm Beverly Wuerstle Personality Martha Lawson Clothes Barbara Maiak Brains Claudia Sell Manners Ianice Miller Sense of Humor Patricia Wiate Complexion Iudy MCCQIQ Laugh Carol Wroblewski Posture Carolyn Leia Sports Ability Alberta Nowak The Holy Spirit came to you tn bap- tism and filled your soul in confirm- ation. He brought four powers: pru- dence justice fortitude and temper- ance He brought seven gifts wis dom understanding counsel fortitude knowledge piety and fear of the Lord These are the gifts of the Holy Spirit Who dwells with you They fortify your spirit defv the spirit of evil and dispel the shadows of fear Why then though tempests come and storms abound we can be like the sea waves and white caps on top but undemeath calm and unperturb ed To pray to keep the command ments to trust in the Spirit within us thus do we fashion the future un troubled and unafraid Thus we are calm whatsoever storms may shake the world and when the sur face rolls have power to walk the waters like Our Lord fContd hom p l col 31 At the party we see Danny Durktn owner of Durkins Dado Den and his star vocalist Sally Michalski who is going to sing the song of Tom Mil lions entitled Dear Iohn lm Writing Love Letters in the Sand from the Middle of an lsland to Tell You lm Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered Accompanying her is that popular band the Loony Moonies directed by Ronnie Lewandowski Toms song is selling as wild as the wind Splashtng in the mammoth pool is Magge Bohn who recently appeared at the Cyprus Gardens after winning the swimming crown in the Olympics Watching her are her trainer Dave Kewley Kulpa respectively Is the moon made of green cheese?
