Varsity M 3,45 Plays 35 Footba 15 45 Basketball 35 Track 1,2,3,4 ,d' .xl . ,di -v,f7' u z,a, Senior Actlvltles The seniors started out the year with a bang by giving the Fresh itiation Party We had a snakedance and a big bonfire The rved the refreshments, which were very good We all had a lot o even the freshmen On October 12th, we had a fish fry at which we all pitched in and turned out a delicious dinner This was served to a lot of people in Middlefield Thanks for your attendance On November 16th we gave our Senior Play a comedy entitled Tl-IE PERFECT IDIOT The attendance was good and we emoyed giving it We had our Senior Sweetheart Dance on February 9th The main purpose of this dance was to help us to eam money to be used for financing our class trip It was a great success and everyone had a very enjoyable evening fda rs . ' I 5' I , ' if 1 1 s 0 Ll X ' ESX On February 24th we collected money for the Heart Drive and re ceived quite a generous amount. Our class trip to Washington, D.C. was taken from May 20-23. We departed and returned by bus. We had many pre-arranged tours. We also, had a little free time of our own. It all added up to a very enjoyable time. Baccalaureate was held in the Middlefield Methodist Church on May 26th. Commencement was held in the Middlefield school gym on May 28th. The senior girls wore white caps and gowns, and the senior I boys wore red caps and gowns. This concluded our senior year, and our school days for many of us. During November and December, they sold many boxes of Christmas cards. Both of these projects turned out very well. In March they gave their Junior Play TATTLETALE , a three-act comedy. On May 18, they held their Junior and Senior Prom in Middlefield. Everyone had a grand time. The sophomores had a busy school year with all their work, fun, and activities that they did this year At the beginning of the year they had a choice of getting their class jackets or their class rings this year. They chose to get their class rings. They 'picked them out, ordered them, and got them just be- fore Christmas vacation. Most of them got black onyx, although, some of them got white gold, which were equally as nice. In April the sophomores held a Sophomore Sock Hop . There was a good attendance and everyone enjoyed themselves. Fritinger. The Freshmen had a very fine year, studying, having fun and making money. Dolly Buber was chosen as their candidate for PTA Carnival Queen. It was, also a boy from their class, who chose the name, Cardinal, for the new school district. The Freshmen took two trips this year. The girls of the Home-Ec class went to Painesville to see a demonstra tion of the electronic oven. The science class made projects for the Science Fair in Chardon, and took their proj ects there. Their main event was a St. Patrick's Day Dance. They were very successful with their two bands. Everyone had a lot of fun. Although, the team did not place first or second in the Geauga County League, they were runner-up in the Geauga County Basketball Tournament. They re- ceived a very nice trophy for being runner-up. The boys practiced hard and made an excellent showing in all of their games. Title The Middlefield Huskies Won the Geauga County League Baseball Championship for the second straight year as they closed a highly successful 1957 season by registering their 15th straight G.C.L. victo- ry, shutting out their closest rival, West Geauga, 7-0. The Middlefield hitting throughout the season was led by Cook who hit at a .533 clip, slamming two homers, a pair of triples and an equal number of two baggers. Joe Leman hit .400 and led the club in runs batted in, chasing 16 mates across the plate. Cervenka and Soltis clubbed at a .300 pace. On the defense, Dick Sutcliffe saved many a game with his expert patroling of the outer gardens. The pitching ace of the mound staff was Ken Soltis, a junior, who fanned a total of 17 batsmen in the championship game against West Geauga.
