DEDICATION Ruth Miriam Howell Thomann, or Mirm as she was known by the community, was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1928 to David and Jessie Howells. After graduating from Albia High School in 1946, she went on to Mon Month College in Illinois and in 1951 finished her education at the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. Before coming to Cardinal in 1965, Mirm worked at John Deere in Ottumwa, The Ottumwa Hospital and Dr. Maixner's office of Ottumwa. She married Dean Thomann of Albia in 1950 and then moved to Agency where she resided for 26 years. Mirm has five children. Beth Luke, who is a housewife, Dennis Thomann, who is an employee of Hormel's of Ottumwa, Chris Thomann, who is a LPN at the Intensive Care Unit at The Ottumwa Hospital, Deanna Egbert, who is a nurses aid at St. Joseph Hospital and Teresa Thomann who is a saleswoman for Rainbow of Kirksville, Missouri. Mirm has four grandchildren. They are Brent, 7; Matthew, 5; Brett, 3; Micheal, 2. Mirm participated in a variety of community related activities including 4-H leader, 4-H committee woman, on the board for the Red Cross, CPR instructor, a member of the Iowa and National Education Associations, a member of the Bladensburg Christian Church and also was a faithful sports fan.
