Forewords For his work and guidance, I would like to personally thank the sponsor of this annual, Mr. Tom Braunger. His spirit, attitude, and ideas were shared by the entire staff and inspired us to do our work as best we could. Twelve students devoted their extra time, including Saturdays and Sundays, to this annual. Without their hard work and co-operation, it would not have been possible. We, the annual staff, present the 1970 Cardinal Comet as a remembrance of the past year. As you read through its pages, we hope you will relive the happiness and sorrow, the victor- ies and defeats, and the memories of things you have done and the friendships you have known. Recall them now with us as we leaf through these memory-filled pages together. Marcia Bruns, Main Editor The beauty of sponsoring the Cardinal Annual is in the staff you work with. These were only twelve individuals who shaped eighteen issues of the school newspaper and put out the annual. These two publications require so much work in so many areas: editing, composition, photography, developing, layouts, ad campaigns, proof-reading, and most im- portant of all, creativity. My special thanks go to Mr. Chisman, the professional photographer who helped us so, and Principal Johnson, who allowed us a free run in our ideas. But my everlasting gratitude goes to Marcia Bruns, our main editor, for her inspiring work. Join us as we travel through the school year of 1969-1970 at Cardinal High School. Mr. Braunger This definitely was a year for great achievements. The United States landed men on the moon; Cardinal came out with a good annual. We are extremely grateful to Marcia Bruns for getting us over troubled waters, to Mr. Chisman's professional touch in photography, and to Mr. Johnson for his invigorating help. Mike Penrod, Mark Bowden, Deena Cooper, Gary Whitting- ton, Robert Schindler, Ken Starkweather, Alana Rogers, Cindi Swanson, Robert Conrad, Ann Kent, Dana Bradfield.
