To you----The 1965 Cardinal Comet 3 ADMINISTRATION Mr. Isenberger is serving his second year as superintendent of Cardinal schools. Mr. Watt is serving his second year as principal and his third year as boys basketball coach. 4 Mr. Isenberger, Alice Dallner (Secretary), Wilmer Schewe, Ross Wells, C. B. Curttright, Mrs. Lura Miller, Charles North, and Vernon Seberg. Mrs. Dallner has the duty as secretary to the Board of Education. drs. Smith is serving her first 'ear as secretary to Mr. Watt. Mrs. Frescoln is correspondence and clerical secretary to Mr. Isenberger. 5 FACULTY Mr. McClain is in charge of vocal music. He also teaches vocal and instrumental in the grade and junior high school. I Mr. Ruby is in charge of instrumental music at Cardinal. He also teaches band in junior high. Mr. Pasut teaches two economics classes and three Personal Typing classes. 7 Mrs. Nobile teaches two French I classes, one French II class, and a French III class. She also teaches one English 10 class. 8 Mrs. Eklofe teaches two classes of Home Ec. I, one class of Home Ec. II, and one class of Home Ec. III. She also teaches one class of biology. Mr. Messerli teaches two sociology classes and driver’s education. He is also the Guidance Councelor, and wrestling coach. Mr. White teaches three junior English classes, one senior English 12, ana one advanced composition class. Mrs. Warner teaches two government classes one modem problems class, and a junior American History class. Active membership in the National Honor Society is limited to juniors and seniors. The scholastic requirements for students is at least a B . Coach Archer says that at the first of the season with only 21 players reporting the season outlook was dim. But after the first week of school the squad jumped up to 41 players. After losing the first game of the season by only four points the Comets won the next four games. Their winning streak was snapped by Ottumwa 33 to 27. The Comets then wrapped up the Conference soundly defeating Pekin and Harmony. The Comets closed out the '64 season by tying Davis County 19-19. The Comets finished with a fine record of 6-2-1. This is a new sport sponsored by the Iowa Girl's High School Athletic Union. A cross country meet was held at Cardinal in October. Fran McCormick turned in the best time for Cardinal IOWA GIRL’S DEFEAT TEXAS RELAY TEAM Carolyn Winston teamed with three Iowa Highschool girls to win the 440 yd. relay from the Texas Girls at the Drake Relays. NATIONAL FEDERATION TRACK MEET AT CORVALLIS, OREGON Carolyn Winston joined eleven of Iowa's girl track champions to compete for the Iowa track club of Oregon State University. Carolyn earned five medals in helping the Iowa team win the National Title.
