Perhaps one of the busiest organizations at Cardinal this year was the Future Teachers of America, better known as the F,T,A, its membership grew rapidly from fifteen or sixteen students to forty-three. Under the guidance of the sponsors, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Nobile, the officers and members found many ways to expand their views on the teaching profession and on education as a whole. Several times, members taught classes in place of teachers who had gone to special meetings. In order to observe different teaching methods, some of the seniors visited nearby school districts. The seniors also attended a Prospective Teachers' Day held especially for seniors at iowa City. There, they were given a tour of the campus, material on the requirements to become a teacher, heard speakers, and were entertained by the Old Gold Singers. The entire group participated ina special meet- ing where interested freshmen were oriented in the club's purpose and its aims, a tour of the High School building was a special feature. The money making project was very successful. Something new, the sale of paperback books, was installed. Books on the English reading list, as well as hundreds of others, were obtainable at low prices. Through capable leadership and the co-operation of all, this club was very successful. We predict that it will continue in this capacity and that its activities will benefit all who participate. 66Friends, Romans, Countr Men. . .
