ACHIEVEMENT ' f jqi.- 1:,g.V1j,ggE.f.ffj. - 1 3 X. NVQ if hm 'aw Cc L RQ A We-N W xx ti may Ten years ago Cardinal Hayes High School opened her doors to the Catholic youth of the Arch- diocese of New York. And so began a tradition in the highest standards of education that molds eager boys into assured Catholic gentlemen who will be the leaders of tomorrow. During the past decade Hayes has graduated some six thousand men who are making their contributions to the community, the country and the Church. Many of her alumni are in colleges throughout the nation, preparing for specific fields in which they will build a brighter future, many are serving in the armed forces of our country, and seventeen were sacrificed on the altar of the second World War. This year four of her sons were ordained Hayes' first priests, and many more are training in the diocesan seminary and in re- ligious orders to carry Christ to the world. Some of her former students are now teachers in the various communities of Brothers while a host of others is following in their steps. ln scholarship, in the forum, in music, in dramatics, in sports, in all the activities she has undertaken, Hayes has an enviable record of achievement that has earned the admiration and respect of eminent educators everywhere. While giving the story of this year, the l95l CARDlNAL'S CALENDAR will recall some of the highlights of the first decade of Hayes history.
