High school is more than the acquisition of knowledge, more than daily recitations and exami- nations. lt is a life to be lived and shared with others. The friendships made in school, we are told, are continued throughout a lifetime. The Spirit of Hayes fostered among us that companionship which is such an important part of school life. With our classmates we have shared disappointments and joys, thrilled with pride at victories and felt glum at de- feats. At games and boatrides, at plays and dances we have enjoyed that side of school life that books can never supply. With the faculty we have found that help and understanding that youths often seek in older and wiser men. We shall miss the com- panionship of l-layes, but the memory of it will help us to lead better lives. 7947
