The Swimming team, with Father Anglin as its new mentor, completed its most successful season so far, taking third place in the Catholic High School championships and capturing its first trophy. Bob Brennan retained his first place in the lOO-yard breaststroke and com- bined with Jerry Curran and Charlie Miller to take first place honors in the medley relay race. Curran and O'Donnell added second place points in the lOO-yard backstroke and 50- yard free-style events respectively. ln the National Catholic Meet Hayes crowned its first national champion in the per- son of Jerry Curran who won the lOO-yard backstroke. However, the medley team of Curran, Brennan and Miller was defeated for the first time, but took second place finishing about three-tenths of a second behind the pace-setters.
