Piling up two hundred and forty-four yards in total offense, the Redbirds ran roughshod over the Crimson and Gold. Fred Rossetti, a junior, displayed amazing ability in the backfield, romping across the goal line for two of the three touchdowns. Mike McKeown races around end for one of Hayes' touchdowns against Brooklyn Prep. Wagga I2 guailga ?u46 79 An eager, loyal crowd traveled to Brooklyn for the opening game of the season but was disappointed at the outcome. The teams were evenly matched, but too many fumbles cost the Cardinals the game. A swift pass from Gagliano to Wright and an end-run by McKeown re- sulted in the two Hayes tallies. The fans were not disheartened, though, and looked forward to better things. W4Q646 Sz! A spirited team, determined to make up for the previous week's defeat, took to the field against an old rival. Cacciopoli's plunging through right guard was the backbone of the Hayes offensive. The Prep took to the air in the second half but failed to click, Gagliano in- terfered with four of their passes. A score early in the second half won the game for the Cardi- nals. 0 John Gaidzis is downed by two St. John's runners. Fred Rossetti is tackled after gaining a short distance for Hayes.

Wagga 34 7680400 I4 In defeating the junior Rams the Hayes gridders reached the peak of their offensive achieve- ment and established a team scor- ing record. Gagliano and Rossetti each scored two touchdowns and Bradshaw made three conversions to put the Redbirds ahead 27-O at the start of the final quarter. The Rams scored two touchdowns and Rossetti countered with an- other, making the final score 34- I4. Qfcufec Wana 27 i Zum 62 On Nov. 7th the Flying Cardin- als added their fifth straight vic- tory by humbling the Cadets of Xavier, 27-6. Trailing 6-O at the end of the second quarter, they returned to the field after the half in a burst of glory. Touchdowns by Cacciopoli, Gagliano and Ros- setti in swift succession put the game out of all danger and re- vealed the Hayes eleven as one of the best in the city. 144
