For the first time, an indoor Bronx cham- pionships was held at Kingsbridge Armory with all the public, private, and Catholic high schools entered from the Bronx. Hayes won both the open and novice championships. Out- standing for Hayes were: Tom Lindgren win- ning the l000, Don Cheek winning the 440, John Fitzgerald's second in the 880, Lasting's fine leg on the mile relay, Bob Cisneros' breeze to victory in the Novice 880, Tom Hughes l0.9 in the Novice l00, and the mile anchor legs of James 0'Connell and Harold Bates on the medley relays which cinched the meet for us. Another first indoor meet was the Bronx- Manhattan-Westchester championships held in February. Once again Hayes finished second with Sl V2. Outstanding for the Redbirds: Ros- etti, Waters, and Walsh scoring in the 50, Rosteing winning the 200 with Dolan a close third, Albert's third in the 440, Lindgren win- ning the 880 with Fitzgerald third, Rivera's place in the high jump, Baldasaro tying for first in the shot, and the 880 foursome of Doherty, Paris, McKeegan, and O'ReiIly win- ning the relay. ln the Indoor Catholic Meet at Madison Square Garden, Loughlin surprised by winning the team championship with Hayes second. Scoring were Lindgren's first in the 880, Ros- teing's second in the 200, Rosetti's fourth in the 50, Baldasaro's second in the shot, the 2- mile relay of O'Connell, Brent, Kastberg, and Lasting placing fourth, and the second 880 placing fourth with Day, Moriarity, McKeegan, and Matton. The sad note of the indoor season was Donald Cheek with a pulled muscle competing only in the first two meets. Thomas Lindgren winning the half mile in Rgbert Potter demonstrating his high iump James Dolan, anchor man for the relay the Catholic City Championships at ability in the finals ofthe Catholic city team, Camino in first for Hayes in the six Madison Square Garden. Championships, lap relay at Madison Square G
