The remain- ing schedule is a tough one but if the boys play the game they are capable of they have a fine chance of finishing the season without further loss.

Wlllllllllll THE Swimming team, with Father Killeen as its new mentor, completed a very successful season with a record of seven wins and four losses. lt also took third place honors in the C. H. S. A. A. championships with Bob Bren- nan bringing Hayes its first city championship in swimming by a victory in the lOO-yard breaststroke event. Curran took second place in the backstroke, and the medley and sprint relay teams came in third and fourth respec- tively. Hayes sent two entries to the National Catholic Meet held in Philadelphia. Brennan came in fourth in the breaststroke against top- notch competition, but bad luck dogged the medley team's chances as Curran's slip and Brennan's technical foul eliminated them from the race. John Dorr, team captain, a valuable performer in the sprint relays, and John Chester, a soph- omore who added greatly to the team's back- stroke strength, turned in excel-lent perform- ances. In March, the swimming team sponsored an intramural meet. About two hundred stu- dents participated and a great amount of latent talent was revealed. Next year should be mem- orable in Hayes' swimming history since most of this year's squad will be returning, giving us more than an even chance for the city cham- pionship.
