Costello crosses the plate in the Tolentine game. ALTHOUGH the Hayes Varsity baseball team lost the city championship to St. John's in the playoff last year at Fordham, Coach Bill Krywycki has strong hopes of a championship team this year. Much of this hope is being placed in the pitching of Bill No-hit Froats and Roy Casella, and the catching and hitting of Ray Tully. Up to this date the highlights of the season have been Ray Tully's clutch double to beat George Washington, Lefty Froats' no-hitter and eighteen strike-outs against James Mon- roe, and Peppy LaMonica's home-run against St. Ann's. Of the first fifteen games which have been played the team has lost only one and that was a league game. Coach Krywycki, however, is pleased with the way his boys are playing and is confident that they will bring home that city championship. Unfortunately, the CALENDAR must go to press before the final results can be recorded. Hayes .................. 5 Hayes postponed Hayes .................. l Hayes ..................
