Ja y Ck, Ygasiefofdl OR the third successive year the Jayvee basket- ball squad has had to be content with second place in the Catholic High School League cham- pionship. Coached by Brother Timothy again, the team played good ball all season, winning sixteen out of twenty games but was nosed out of first place by the All Hallows Jayvee club. Ray Tully and George Gully, who deserve special mention for their fine playing all season, should be assets to the Varsity in the future. Next year the Jayvee will be content with nothing less than first place in the League results. Front Row: John Flynn, Donald O'Driscoll. Frank Cas- tiglia, George Gully. OPES have quickened here at Hayes with the results of the first eleven baseball games. lf the team continues its present pace, it will make a M strong bid for the C. H. S. A. A. championship. The only loss suffered to date was a non-league game. Coach Al Groh is enthusiastic about the chan- ces his boys have. Johnny Merrill, much improved over last year, is his pitching hope while Dave Mar- aconi, captain of the team, Matty Thompson and Bill Stetter carry the strongest batting averages. Unfortunately, the yearbook must go to press before the final results will be known. . d Base Cavlaln' Thu Jerry Lowe, Left Field Tom Marino, Right Field f
