CHEERLEADERS ROBABLY the most dynamic group of the year was the cheerleaders. They were to be seen bouncing and yelling at every major sports event. Their antics and efforts added in no small measure to the success of our foot- ball and basketball teams. Under the direction of Father Lavin, their rhyme and rhythm set our hearts beating fast- er and lent volume to our cheers. Between goal-posts and under hoops they spurred our gallant teams on to victory. When the games were over, they took no bows but disappeared into the surging crowd which soon forgot those who had made the game more lively and spi- rited. For these unsung Hayes men of spirit we now give a rousing cheer of gratitude. l4l DANCE COMMITTEE HESE members of the Senior Class busily engaged them- selves in preparing the most popular social activities at Hayes-the dances. The best compliment and greatest favor that can be given to any l-layes admirer is an invite to one of these social functions. The reputation of being the best in high school circles is due in great part to the unselfish ef- forts of this committee, headed by Bernie Carolan of 4A. Great attention was given to creating the proper dance atmosphere through varied and intricate decorations. Congratulations to all, including Father Fitzge- rald, the moderator.

PHYSICS CLUB O you remember passing Room Zl l on that cloudy Tuesday? lt wasn't the faint rumble of thunder that you heard but the ardent hum of the busy members of the Physics Club. Brother Wilbert and his group of physicists were busily en- gaged in exploring the secrets of science. The purpose of this activity was fulfill- ed in permitting the members to use the different types of apparatus and to be- come familiar with them. The knowledge provided by each student's independent research in his pet line supplemented the regular Physics course. Although the club was organized for the first time this year, it is well estab- lished as one of the school's activities. Lectures and movies served to stimulate the interest of the members. As the CALENDAR goes to press, they are busily preparing their part in the program that has been arranged for the Science Open House to be held May lO.
