CIVIL AIR PATROL CADETS joyed a highly successful I9-45 campaign. At the begin- ning of the school year the Canadian Government once again extended an invitation to the Hayes cadets to travel to the w fx airfields around Montreal for a study of pre-flight aeronautics. Since Hayes is the only high school in the United States so honored, only the best cadets of the former year were per- mitted to go, Accompanied by the Reverend John J. Mulroy as chaplain and officials of the Civil Air Patrol, the group had an interesting and educational trip. Their conduct and dis- cipline won the respect and admiration of all who met them, thus increasing the reputation of the school. On their return Cadet Sergeant John McNally recounted .heir enjoyable ex- periences to the entire student body at a special assembly. During the year the cadets studied faithfully each week the subjects which comprise this important training program. Each Tuesday evening Civil Air Patrol instructors taught them the fundamentals of navigation, meteorology, aerodynamics, military courtesy and drill. The disciplinary training which they acquired will be a decided advantage to them when they enter the armed forces. So faithfully did the cadets cooperate with their teachers that whenever they appeared in public the praise they received was unbounded. Their efforts were rewarded when they won the competition held in the Kingsbridge Armory for all Bronx units of the C. A. P. Marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade, they heard comments from all sides on their marching ability. . The Civil Air Patrol affords the men of Hayes an excellent opportunity to prepare for the future and enables them the better to serve God and Country.
