ic!-em ' N January 27 in Brady Auditorium ninety-six seniors of Cardinal Hayes High School, who were forced to accelerate their course to meet the demands of the armed forces, were graduated, lt was only then that they realized that perhaps the happiest phase of their lives so far was completed. The transition from high school to adult life is, and should be, tinged with sadness, but the excitement of exploring the unknown future rightly oversha- dows it. With this attitude of mind our mid-year graduates went forth from the halls of Hayes to face the future. Salutatory and valedictory speeches were given by Walter Lee and George Hoolahan respectively in which they expressed their gratitude to Hayes and to their parents for the opportunity they had been given of spending their formative years in an atmosphere which molds the perfect Catholic gen- tleman. After giving them his own farewell ad- vice, Monsignor Furlong introduced Dean Wilkin- son of the Fordham University Law School who urged the graduates always to be faithful to the ideals of Hayes. We know that they will bring credit to their Alma Mater, and we pray that they will always keep in mind the motto which they themselves chose, Sequere Deum. ll7
