Led by a fine assortment of experienced seniors and strengthened by a talented group of sophomores and juniors, the football team worked its way through an outstanding season. Supposedly out of con- tention for a playoff spot after some early disappointing season losses, the Cards stormed back, showing their character and desire to win by going undefeated through their next six games and finally capturing the coveted Northern City Section. A superb coaching staff, headed by George Stratts, aided the team in gaining confidence in themselves, which led to some stunning performances against tough opponents.
