They march with measured tread and beat. fKiplingj Seldom have so many done so much in so short a time. The words of Churchill can be paraphrased to describe our Men ol Music. Four years from its inception. CD's band came home a winner. taking virtually every award in the All-Catholic Band Championship competition. How did it happen? Not to mention the reason would be false humility. The ingredients of suc- cess were long-practicing musicians. skilled instructors. dedicated moderators and an inspiring director. Mr. Joseph Colantonio. A final word of praise must go to our Dance Bands and the Dixieland Band. Both of these organizations have added to the glittering color of our musical mural. iQ.'Q.. More honor still came to our school late in the year: CD's band was the best band in New York's St. Patrick's Day parade. Cardinal Spellman presented the award to our drum-major. Mark Timmer- l'l13l l. DECKED OUT IN FIELD UNIFORM. THE BAND. 120 STRONG. POSE ON CD'S STAGE. A winning band also had a winning Color Guard. THE KILL OF THE DY The Latins had a familiar proverb for it- A sound mind in a sound body. We played sports mainly because we liked to: but from our participation, we learned self-discipline and the right kind of cooperation to achieve victory. These are the memories of the thrills and the fun, the games we played and the games we watched. These, perhaps, are one part of our life at C.D. that we shall remember best in the years to come. Here. in these pages, the memory lingers on.
