The athlete must play according to the rules follow orders and abide by decisions often con- trary to his opinions. Hours of drill and practice empha- size the fact that worthwhile things are not always easily attained On the playing fields of Capuchino our athletes tram and work together practicing understanding as well as skill. Suffering two crucial defeats lSan Mateo and Hillsdalel, in the first round of play, the Mustangs found themselves one game behind pace-setting San Mateo. However, due to an unde- feated second round, the 'Tangs wrapped up the P. L. crown and received a bid from the Stanford Tournament of Cham- pions. The Mustangs captured a fourth place at Stanford. The 'Tongs started off successfully with three straight victories enroute to winning the pre-season Peninsula League Tournament at Mills. Under the directions of drum maior Jim Danielson, they began the year entertaining us at half time during football games. No one but a Cap student, knows the admiration and pride which rises within us upon viewing the many intricate formations performed by Cap's bond. Basketball season brought the Pep Band to life. We saw them playing with enthusiasm at our noon rallies and basketball games. In actuality we have seen only one part of our band's scope. Due to many strenuous hours of drill- ing, Cap's band has placed in the top ranks of many competitive events, such as Stanford Band Day, the Posey Parade, and our Spring Concert. Also winning honors for Cap were our fabulous maiorettes, who have placed first in their field. To help our band achieve the goal of new uniforms for competition at Long Beach next year, the Band Parents organized and brought to us The Boy- friend , sock-hops, and the Vacation Revue . Pictured at the right are a few sections taken from Cap's Marching Band. Above are the Banner Girls who precede our band in parades, lleft to Rightl: Diana Raab, Toni Bommarito, Pam Razovich, Diane Deason, Judy Brockway, Jean Todero, Janet Over- cash, Kay Loucks, and Mike Campbell. From our campus at Capuchino, we can see below us in the distance the runways and ramps of a great international airport. International- ism, felt by travellers landing in San Francisco, complements the atmos- phere ofthe famous city located so near to us at San Bruno. San Francisco - crossroads of the Eastern and Western worlds - combines the culture of both hemispheres in her cosmopolitan life. The faces of her people attest the mutual understanding among races found in this Baghdad by the Bay. Understanding is the bond bringing her people together to enioy social, educational, religious, and athletic facilities. By location - international, by tradition - understanding, San Francisco has achieved peace among her people. Q I us VIANC SCO VZINA' DNA. AIPCH' I 411- .. t , . N SX R l Q x X XXL .
