Assistant Principals Captain Shreve has been very fortunate in the past years, in that we have had two of the finest men serving as vice-principals. Tommy Powell and Donald Horton, through leadership and ex¬ perience, have combined efforts with the principal, the staff, and the students to make Captain Shreve an outstanding school. Mr. Powell’s primary concerns were with the academics of the school. His duties included the scheduling of classes, hiring of substitute teachers, selection of textbooks, and supervision of teachers. Mr. Horton, with a firm hand, maintained the discipline of the students. His other responsibilities were the enforcement of the parish attendance policy and the coordination of school activities. Mr. Powell and Mr. Horton played an active part in the Gator spirit by staying involved with the students. They were two assistants with whom Captain Shreve could not do without. 20 LOG

Counselors A good guidance program was a very important part of our school, and our counselors proved to be great. They guided the students as they made impor¬ tant decisions about their choices of col¬ lege, vocational careers and or training, and personal problems. Each counselor’s office had an IBM Terminal connected to the Central Of¬ fice computer — vast amounts of infor¬ mation about students’ attendance, present schedule, history of courses already taken, prsent location, test scores were easily retrieved. Above Right: Mrs. Horne returns to Shreve as a counselor. Above Left: Mrs. Powell checks a new student’s record. 1. MISS INEZ FRANZ ... Freshman and Junior Counselor ... BS ...
