Miss Sandra McCalla Prindpal Captain Shreve, a school recognized for its outstanding contributions to education, was guided by an especially valuable principal — Miss Sandra McCalla. Involvement with students in academic affairs, ex¬ tracurricular activities, and sports, reflected her concern for the total development of the Gator spirit. Not even a rain-soaked defeat in the state semi-final football game dampened the pride that Miss McCalla exhibited in the team. Administrative tasks for maintaining excellence behind-the-scenes demanded communication and organizational skills. Assistant Principals Captain Shreve has been very fortunate in the past years, in that we have had two of the finest men serving as vice-principals. Tommy Powell and Donald Horton, through leadership and ex¬ perience, have combined efforts with the principal, the staff, and the students to make Captain Shreve an outstanding school. Mr. Powell’s primary concerns were with the academics of the school. His duties included the scheduling of classes, hiring of substitute teachers, selection of textbooks, and supervision of teachers. Mr. Horton, with a firm hand, maintained the discipline of the students. His other responsibilities were the enforcement of the parish attendance policy and the coordination of school activities. Mr. Powell and Mr. Horton played an active part in the Gator spirit by staying involved with the students. They were two assistants with whom Captain Shreve could not do without. 20 LOG
