Office Volunteers Are Helpful Office workers were an essential part of Cap¬ tain Shreve. These workers volunteered to work in the office during their study hall. The volunteers checked students in and out, answered the telephones, and took care of absentees. If the students had not volunteered to work in the office it would have been diffi¬ cult to maintain the structure of the office. Secretaries signed check out request forms, called the parents, kept the books, registered new students, and performed many other duties. The help of the secretaries and office volunteers was greatly needed in keeping organization at Captain Shreve. MRS. JOANN GOODWIN . . . Receptionist . . . B.S., Cen¬ tenary College. MRS. Counselors Aid in Students’ Future The counselors were busy with student orientation, but they also aided students in per¬ sonal ways. They were always available to aid or counsel students any time in any way possi¬ ble. If a student had a problem, the counselors could often be seen conferring with that stu¬ dent. However, besides aiding students with prob¬ lems, the counselors also helped prepare stu¬ dents for their future, whether it was college or a job. They obtained many representatives from different colleges to confer with the stu¬ dents. During the past year, the counselors administered various achievement and scholas¬ tic aptitude tests. I Learning Center Is Helping The Learning Center was a place for students to study and have fun. There was a quiet side for those who chose to study or do homework and a loud side for those students who liked to watch movies, read magazines or visit with friends. Supervising the learning center were several aides who also checked the role daily. Study hall was helpful for all students since it gave some an hour away from a regular class routine and others an extra hour for school work. MR. WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM MRS. DIANE L. ELY MRS.
