Office Help Is Necessary The office staff was aided greatly by students who were enrolled in study hall but who wanted to become involved in office work. These student workers checked students in and out, made phone calls, received messages, and took care of absentees. These students performed a neces¬ sary job; one that would make the efficient run¬ ning of the office difficult if the students were not willing to give their time to help. The secretaries were also a part of the efficient operation of Captain Shreve. They were well organized in their work and in their handling of school affairs. The hard and diligent work done by both the secretaries and the student workers was greatly appreciated by everyone at Captain Shreve. MRS. JOANN GOODWIN . . .Receptionist. . . 28 Advice Offered by Counselors Throughout the years at Captain Shreve, the counselors have always been available to help students in any way that they could. This year, the counselors again did their best to aid stu¬ dents in selecting colleges, careers or schedules. By having many college catalogs, brochures, and scholarship applications, the counselors were able to answer most any questions that were asked. The counselors advised students to take the SAT and ACT tests, as well as the PSAT test so that they would be prepared to apply to col¬ leges either in or out of state. As always, the counselors talked to students about their sched¬ ules and counseled them on which subject would be most beneficial to them. The counselors were also available to help students with any problem, and their sincere interest was apparent. MISS INEZ FRANZ. . . A.S. West Texas State Univ.; M.A., Univ. of Houston MRS. RUBYT. Learning Center Provides Study Hour The Captain Shreve Learning Center provided many of the students the time they needed to study, read, or just to relax for a while. To meet the specific needs of students the center was divided into two sections — the quiet side, for those students who wished to use the period for studying or reading, and a loud side where stu¬ dents could chat with each other or watch film¬ strips and movies. Several aides were in charge of taking the roll and supervising the students in the center. There were several other aides at Captain Shreve who performed many important services. Some of their duties included making copies for teachers, finding resource materials, and helping the office personnel. The aides helped keep Captain Shreve running smoothly. MR. BILLY BREEDLOVE MR.
