Assistant Principals Coordinate Activity 26 LOG The primary responsibility of the assistant principals this year, was to aid in the preparation of student and teacher activities. Returning this year as assistant principal, was Mr. Donald Hor¬ ton. Miss Sandra McCalla began her first year as assistant principal, replacing Mrs. Helen Dear during her leave of absence. Miss McCalla worked closely with the faculty, scheduling classes, observing classroom instruc¬ tion, selecting textbooks, and planning teacher in-service programs. Mr. Horton’s duties involved direct contact with the students. He coordinated the activities of student organizations, super¬ vised athletic events, and enforced student disci¬ pline. Together, the assistant principals worked diligently to handle school affairs smoothly and efficiently.

28 Advice Offered by Counselors Throughout the years at Captain Shreve, the counselors have always been available to help students in any way that they could. This year, the counselors again did their best to aid stu¬ dents in selecting colleges, careers or schedules. By having many college catalogs, brochures, and scholarship applications, the counselors were able to answer most any questions that were asked. The counselors advised students to take the SAT and ACT tests, as well as the PSAT test so that they would be prepared to apply to col¬ leges either in or out of state. As always, the counselors talked to students about their sched¬ ules and counseled them on which subject would be most beneficial to them. The counselors were also available to help students with any problem, and their sincere interest was apparent. MISS INEZ FRANZ. . . A.S. West Texas State Univ.; M.A., Univ. of Houston MRS. RUBYT.
